Welsh Language Board in Cardiff

14/06/2010

Residents of Cardiff are invited to the Welsh Language Board’s open meeting on Friday 18 June at the Angel Hotel in the city centre.

Board members will discuss a lot of topics relating to the Welsh language and the work of the Board, focusing primarily on education and skills.

Chair of the Board, Meri Huws, said:

"I am pleased to invite residents of the capital to come and listen to Board members’ discussions. As well as hearing about our work in promoting the use of Welsh across the sectors, I'm sure they will find our guest speakers’ presentations very interesting. Geraint Talfan Davies, Chair of the Federal College’s Shadow Implementation Board, will talk about the latest developments in setting up the college, and David Hawker, Director General of the Welsh Assembly Government’s Education Department, will talk about the Welsh-medium Education Strategy.

Members of the public will have an opportunity to contribute to the topics discussed at the end of the meeting.

A full agenda and related papers can be found on the Welsh Language Board’s website www.byig-wlb.org.uk.

Anyone who’s planning to attend are requested to notify the Board in advance, either by calling 029 2087 8000 or by emailing
[email protected].

The meeting takes place between 10.00am and 3.30pm.
