Board members will look closely at the Government’s Welsh medium Education Strategy and its impact on the language when they meet in the Llanbedrog this Friday (19 June).
As members discuss their response to the Strategy, Dr Ian Rees, Head and Chief Executive of Coleg Meirion Dwyfor, will present his views on the opportunities arising from it.
Meri Huws, Chair of the Welsh Language Board, said:
“The publication of the Welsh medium Education Strategy in May was an important step forward for the language. It not only gives us a detailed analysis of the current situation, but it also sets out a number of proposals which we will need to consider closely.
“We will also talk about the link between economic regeneration and the language, an appropriate topic to discuss in this part of Wales.
“There is a warm welcome for local people to attend the meeting – to question us and to share their ideas and information about the language in the area.”
