Welsh Terminology Seminar, 30 October 2007 in the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth
This seminar will bring together specialists who work in the field of terminology – from translators to people who need standardized terms to facilitate the use Welsh in the workplace. The Board is keen to raise the profile of terminology standardization and to raise awareness about the variety of different terminology projects which are taking place.
During the seminar there will be an opportunity to hear about some of the most recent projects and developments in the field of Welsh terminology. There will be presentations by Thomas Watkin, First Welsh Legislative Counsel; translators from the Welsh Assembly Government, staff from the Welsh Language Board, Canolfan Bedwyr and many others. The seminar will also be an opportunity to discuss some of the considerations which arise when dealing with and standardizing terminology. There will also be an opportunity to discuss how to use Welsh terminology in practice when translating or whilst working through the medium of Welsh. We will also discuss priorities for the future for this work which is central for ensuring that the Welsh language is used in new and innovative fields.
