What does the Welsh Language Act 1993 say?

The Welsh Language Act 1993 conforms in law that Welsh and English are equal in Wales. It places an obligation on the public sector to treat the Welsh and English languages on the basis of equality in the provision of services to the public in Wales. A copy of the Act, together with the 1967 Welsh Language Act, is available under 'Publications' on the right hand side of this screen.
