Carmarthenshire is the local authority area with most Welsh speakers – 84,196 (50.3%) of the County's residents can speak Welsh. Traditionally, it is thought that South-West, North-West and Mid Wales is where the highest percentages of Welsh speakers are found, but it is important to note that Welsh is on the increase across Wales.
