Can I learn Welsh alongside my child?

There are two ways parents can learn Welsh with their child.

  1. One parent learning the language from the other parent alongside their child i.e. the father learns Welsh by listening to the mother speaking to the child. The father will be able to understand a lot of Welsh conversations amongst the family, but will continue to speak his first language.
  2. Join a Welsh language class. Thousands of people learn Welsh and there are courses available throughout Wales that are suitable for all levels. There are several courses available. Go to the Welsh for Adults website by clicking the link at the right side of this page.
